| About This Background |
| The background is a back-scattered electron image of two basaltic melt pools at the junctions of olivine grains on a polished surface cut from a sample of olivine and basalt equilibrated at 1225 degrees and 1 bar for 3 days. These particular melt pools show almost the ideal geometry predicted for isotropic crystals in textural equilibrium with a melt for a dihedral angle less than 60 degrees. |
